RE: APPLICATION FOR A POSITION OF PROJECT DRIVER.
I am applying in response to your advertisement in regards to a position of Project Driver. I am interested in working in this position with your organization and I believe that my employment background, experience and education meets the required criteria for this position.
I am SSEWANKAMBO ROBERT, male aged 48 years, from Kampala- Uganda, l do hold a O’ and A’ level certificates, Certificate in Strategic and Fleet Management, Defensive certificates from various companies , l hold a Valid Driving License.
l have a certificate of Competence Driving Test from the Ministry of Works and Transport. l have knowledge in Basic mechanics, I hold three (3) classes D1E, C1E and BE .
I am accident free and my driving permit has never been questioned by any government body which suits me to have a job in your organization.
I have 10 years as a professional driver. l have been working with Uganda National Roads Authority as a Fleet assistant/ Driver , before the government was Rationalized its agencies and before I joined UNRA, l worked on a Civil society fund Project which was managed by Deloitte Uganda and funded by USAID for two years before it was Closed as Driver. This gives me experience in working with donor organizations like USAID, DFID DANISH etc.
I am familiar with all locations and addresses around Uganda and East Africa as a whole and possess the ability to read maps and use the GPS to navigate places that I have not had the opportunity to venture into.
Additionally, l have a customer care skill, I am quick thinker, I am a problem solver, I am computer literate with packages like (MS Word, PowerPoint and excel), and I can speak and write English, fluently, Arabic, Swahili, plus other many local languages.
I understand that a driver’s work doesn’t end at just driving the vehicle but there are other tasks that he /she has to perform as instructed by his /her supervisor/ superiors. My advanced knowledge of vehicles would allow me to make minor repairs myself and ensure preventive maintenance. Furthermore, I am well learned in driving laws and rules and strive to follow them at all times in order to ensure necessary safety.

Fleet Assistant /Driver
• The Fleet Assistant will be responsible for vehicle operation and maintenance including: - Daily checks, checking insurance validity, reporting damage or malfunction. • Ensuring security and cleanness of the vehicle. • In addition, the Fleet Assistant will deliver mail, goods and be responsible for accounting for fuel issued and maintaining and updating the logbook at all times. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • The Fleet Assistant will facilitate field trip activities by driving UNRA vehicles according to traffic regulations. • Conduct daily assessment of the vehicle using the UNRA standard checklist in line with procedure; • Report damage or malfunction of the vehicle in line with operating guidelines and procedure; • The incumbent will maintain safe custody of the vehicles at the station in line with UNRA security guidelines; • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicles in line with guidelines and standards; • Maintain and update UNRA station vehicle logbook; • The Fleet Assistant will inspect UNRA vehicles to verify validity of insurance and first aid box in line with OHS guidelines. Project Driver
• To drive the project vehicles within the town area and in the field strictly observing the led and donor laws and policies relative to the use of the prefect vehicle. • Ensuring compliance with Deloitte policies and professionals standards in all tasks. • To complete timely and circulate log sheets • Ensure assessments are done within stipulated timeless. • Involvement in a firm wide activity like department meetings and breakfast meetings. • Attain at least 90% of learning hours • Perform all internal and external client relation duties required by the program director and ensure the reception areas is attended to all time and maintained in ordinary and clean State. • Keep charge of the motor vehicle accessories kept in the allocated vehicle. • Assist program staff in program activities whenever necessary. • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor. • Keep assigned vehicle full of fuel, oil, water and other lubricants. • Restrict admission of non-authorized and non-compliant passengers to the Project vehicle.
