Company Description

The Uganda National Mining Company (UNMC) is a statutory company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. It was established on April 25, 2024, under the Mining and Minerals Act, CAP 159, to manage Uganda’s commercial holding and participation in the mineral industry both locally and internationally.

Our shareholders

UNMC operates under the oversight of its shareholders—the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) with 51% shareholding and the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development (MoFPED) with 49% shareholding—to optimize the State’s interests in the mining sector.

What we do

· Manage and optimize the State’s commercial interests in the mining sector, partnering with the private sector to maximize revenue, ensure sustainable development, and undertake strategic exploration, mining, and infrastructure projects both locally and internationally.

· Play a key role in managing state equity, marketing mineral resources, developing industry expertise, and driving innovation while contributing to economic growth and societal benefits.
