Job Title: Assessment Officer – Home Science Education and Training
Salary Scale: UVTAB 5
Division: Division of Test Item Development and Assessment
Reports to: Senior Assessment Officer – Home Science Education and Training
Responsible for: Nil

Job Purpose:
To ensure the quality and relevance of technical training programs are in line with the plans and programs for management and administration of examinations and awards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participating in and implementing approved processes and procedures in development, moderation, typing, and proofreading of test items, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Implementing approved assessment syllabi, tools, manuals, and guidelines.

  • Participating in verification of continuous assessment marks/results for candidates.

  • Gathering necessary information and data for preparation and development of unit work plans, budgets, and activity progress reports.

  • Collecting and critically analyzing data for development of policies, manuals, and standards.

  • Providing technical input in the process of candidate registration (verification and enrolment), examination timetables, and circulars.

  • Participating in departmental activities including marking exercises, supervision of examinations, and inspection/monitoring of real-life projects and industrial training.

  • Collecting accurate data on institutions for accreditation as examination centres.

  • Implementing approved standards and guidelines in assessment processes.

  • Collecting all data for verification of continuous assessment marks/results for candidates.

  • Verifying entry forms/candidate registration data, computing assessment fees, and registering candidates.

Person Specifications:

a) Qualifications:

  • An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either:

    • Hotel & Institutional Catering or Tourism & Hospitality Management, and/or

    • Fashion & Design, Interior Design & Fine Art, or Textile, from a recognized University/Institution.

b) Experience:

  • Nil
