Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant posts that exist in Butaleja District Local Government.

Applications MUST be submitted in triplicate on PSC Form 3 (Revised 2008), and addressed to the Secretary, Butaleja District Local Government, P.O. Box 1, Butaleja, to be received not later than Friday 24th April, 2026, 5:00 pm. The application forms can be obtained from any District Service Commission Offices or Public Service Commission Offices, Farmers House 2nd floor, Kampala or from Public Service Commission website, www.psc.go.ug.

The applications should bear the Title of the post as well as the reference number specified against the vacancy. Applicants must attach verified O&A-level Documents by UNEB and Certified photocopies of all Academic Certificates and Transcripts, Registration Certificates. For Health Applicants include a valid Certified Practicing Licence, a photocopy of the National Identity card, Curriculum Vita, three (3) recent colored passport photographs and any other relevant documents like Appointment and Confirmation letters for serving officers. Only qualifications from recognized institutions will be considered. Serving officers must route their applications through their responsible officers who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay and should not have reached the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. The applicants who are not currently in the civil service should be below the age of 50 years. Applicants who will not hear from us on conclusion of the selection exercise should consider themselves unsuccessful. For all posts, women, persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Job Purpose

To coordinate and provide technical and professional guidance in the management of Education and Sports policies, plans and programmes in the District.

Key Outputs
  • Education laws, policies and regulations implemented
  • Approved education and development plans, strategies, and council decisions implemented
  • Technical advice on education and sports provided
  • Schools inspection coordinated
  • Teachers’ training/upgrading programmes organized and facilitated
  • Schools inspection and sports programmes coordinated
  • Educational activities in the district coordinated
  • Educational curricular, examinations and sports events monitored and supervised
  • Updated teachers’ personnel data bank maintained
Key Functions
  • Implementing Education laws, policies and regulations

Person Specifications

Qualifications

  • Should hold an Honors Bachelors Degree in Education from a recognized University or Institution
  • Either a Masters Degree in Education Planning and Management or Human Resources Management or Public Administration and Management or other related Managerial fields from a recognized University or Institution

Experience

  • At least nine (9) years working experience, three of which must have been in management of an educational Institution or gained from professional experience in a managerial capacity at the level of Principal Education Officer
