Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant posts that exist in the service of Kyegegwa District Local Government as listed below.

Enrolled Midwife

Applications must be submitted in triplicate on PUBLIC SERVICE FORM 3 (PSF 3) (Revised 2008) to the Secretary, Kyegegwa District Service Commission, P. O Box 99, Kyegegwa not later than Wednesday 18th March, 2026 at 5pm which is the closing date and time.

Applicants MUST attach to each form a set of duly CERTIFIED photocopies of All Academic Certificates, Transcripts, Passlips, Employment Records, Annual Practicing Licenses, Registration Certificates where applicable, recent passport photographs, a copy of a National Identity Card and copies of all identity cards from all former institutions of learning.

Job Title: Enrolled Midwife
  • Salary Scale: U7

  • Reports To: Nursing Officer (Midwifery)

  • Responsible For: Nursing Assistant, Nursing Trainees and Support Staff

Job Purpose
  • To provide day-to-day midwifery nursing care service to patients.

Key Outputs
  • Patients received, admissions, discharges and deaths registered;

  • Patients prepared for meals;

  • Care during labour provided;

  • Care during puerperium provided;

  • Mothers sensitized about benefits of breast feeding and recommended diet;

  • Clean and healthy environment maintained;

  • Bedside nursing procedures carried out;

  • Daily ward reports compiled and submitted;

  • Ante-natal care carried out;

  • Doctors and Clinical Officers’ ward rounds carried out.

Key Functions
  • Receiving patients, registering admissions, discharges and deaths;

  • Providing care during labour with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complications to mother and baby;

  • Providing care during puerperium with emphasis on prevention of infection;

  • Sensitizing mothers about benefits of breast feeding and recommended diet;

  • Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the caring team;

  • Participating in Doctors/Clinical Officers ward rounds;

  • Observing and compiling daily ward reports for the attention of the relevant authorities;

  • Preparing patients for meals and participating in serving them;

  • Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the patients;

  • Carrying out Ante-natal care.

Person Specifications
Qualifications
  • Must have an Enrolled Midwifery Certificate from a recognized Institution;

  • Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.

Competencies
  • Guidance and counseling;

  • Concern for quality and standards;

  • Ethics and integrity;

  • Self-control and stress management;

  • Time management.
