About the Role

The Enrolled Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, and basic nursing care to clients at Healing Grace Medical Center under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and Clinical Officer. The role involves client care, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, basic clinical procedures, health education, record keeping, and excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients and assist with triage by taking vital signs, weight, and basic observations.
  • Provide basic nursing care, including hygiene, feeding assistance, positioning, and comfort.
  • Administer prescribed medications, injections, and immunizations under supervision.
  • Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and other basic clinical procedures.
  • Support antenatal, postnatal, child health, immunization, and family planning services.
  • Assist with emergency care and promptly report changes in clients’ conditions.
  • Monitor clients and report concerns to the Registered Nurse or Clinical Officer.
  • Educate clients and caregivers on hygiene, medication use, nutrition, and self-care.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential nursing and client records.
  • Assist with daily and weekly nursing reports and statistics.
  • Monitor medical and nursing supplies and report shortages or expiring items.
  • Clean, sterilize, maintain, and safely store nursing equipment.
  • Support client appointments, home visits, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Welcome clients and caregivers with warmth, respect, dignity, and patience.
  • Listen to and appropriately respond to client concerns and complaints.
  • Work closely with nurses, Clinical Officers, midwives, laboratory staff, pharmacy staff, and community health workers.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement activities, staff devotions, fellowships, and outreach programs.
  • Participate in continuing nursing education and maintain valid professional licensing.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Registered Nurse, Clinical Officer, or administration.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Certificate in Enrolled Nursing from a recognized and accredited institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).
  • 1–2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a primary care, rural, or community health setting.
  • Good knowledge of basic nursing procedures, maternal and child health, and common health conditions.

  • Good skills in basic nursing procedures and vital signs monitoring.
  • Ability to administer medication safely under supervision.
  • Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer-care orientation.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and work under supervision.
  • Basic computer skills are an added advantage.
  • Compassionate, respectful, and committed to providing holistic care.
