Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified adult Ugandans to fill vacant posts in Mukono District Local Government and Mukono Municipal Council.

Applicants should forward their applications using file folders in triplicate on PSC Form 3 (Revised 2008) or ESC Form No. 3 (for Teachers) which should be addressed to the Secretary, District Service Commission, P.O. Box 110, Mukono or delivered to Office of Secretary District Service Commission, Mukono. The closing date of receiving applications will be Monday 13th April 2026 at 5:00pm. The application forms are obtainable from the District Service Commission offices countrywide.

All applicants should attach three sets of certified photocopies (not exceeding two years) of their academic/professional certificates, transcripts/result slips and registration certificates/annual practicing licences where applicable, National Identity Card plus three (3) most recent passport size photographs. Applicants serving in Government should route their applications through their Responsible Officer who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delays. Job Purpose

  • To provide quality nursing services to patients and participate in implementing public health interventions in the community.

Key Outputs

  • Patients received, registered and prepared for diagnosis;

  • Quality nursing care and treatment provided to patients;

  • Proper patient records maintained;

  • Bedside nursing procedures carried out;

  • Patients prepared for meals and served;

  • Clean and healthy environment maintained;

  • Staff supervised and appraised;

  • Patients and their attendants sensitized on basic health practices; and

  • Daily nursing care service activity reports compiled and submitted.

Key Functions

  • Receiving, registering and preparing patients for diagnosis;

  • Providing quality nursing care and treatment to patients;

  • Observing and maintaining proper patient records;

  • Participating in Doctors’ and Clinical Officers’ ward rounds;

  • Participating in bedside nursing procedures as a member of the care team;

  • Preparing patients for meals and participating in serving them;

  • Maintaining a clean and healthy environment for patients;

  • Supervising and appraising Nursing Assistants and support staff;

  • Sensitizing patients and their attendants on basic health care practices; and

  • Compiling and submitting daily nursing care service activity reports.

Person Specifications
Qualifications

  • Must have an Enrolled Nursing Certificate from a recognized Institution;

  • Must be registered and licensed with the Nurses and Midwives Council.

Competences

  • Guidance and counseling;

  • Concern for quality and standards of nursing care;

  • Ethics and integrity; and

  • Time management.
