Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public service commission form no.3(2008) to the Secretary Iganga District Service Commission, P.O Box 358, Iganga to be received not later than 20th April 2026 by 5:00pm.

Application forms are obtained from the Public Service Commission – Farmers House Kampala or any District Service Commission Offices. Hand written applications with detailed CVS are also acceptable. Applications should bear the title of the post and the reference number specified against each post. Applicants should attach three sets of certified copies of their full academic certificates, Transcripts, and slip one of which should be an original certified copy, National Identity Card, letter of Appointment/ Promotion to the present substantive grade and three recent passport photographs.

Serving officers should route their applications through their responsible officers who should be informed of the closing date to avoid late submissions.

Job Title: Forestry Officer

  • Salary Scale: U4
  • Reports To: Senior Forestry Officer or District Natural Resources Officers
  • Responsible For:
    • Assistant Forest Officer
    • Forest Ranger
Job Purpose
  • To support the implementation of forestry conservation programmes in the District.
Key Outputs
  • Illegal activities in the forest reserve controlled and culprits apprehended;
  • Productive activities in the forest reserves managed based on NFA guidelines;
  • Technical support to the wood based industries provided;
  • Forest extension support to farm and plantation developers provided;
  • Ecotourism development supported;
  • Revenue from harvested forest products collected and remitted;
  • Natural forests identified for gaze ting and protection;
  • Report on forestry exploitation and conservation activities produced; and
  • Staff of the Forestry Office supervised and appraised.
Key Functions
  • Providing technical support to the wood based industries in the District;
  • Providing forest extension services to farm and plantation developers;
  • Supporting the development of ecotourism;
  • Collecting revenue from harvested forest products and depositing it with relevant accounts;
  • Sensitizing communities about the benefits of sustainable exploitation of forest resources;
  • Identifying degraded natural forests and supervising enrichment planting;
  • Enforcing the observance of National Forestry and Tree planting Act 2003;
  • Supervising and appraising the performance staff of the Forestry Office;
  • Participating in the planning and budgeting for forest management programmes and activities;
  • Compiling reports on forestry exploitation and conservation activities.
Person Specifications
(i) Qualifications
  • An Honors Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Forestry from a recognized Institution
(ii) Competences

  • Time management.
