Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is a Boutique HR Advisory Firm that specializes in strategic HR Consulting, Talent Acquisition & Development, Risk Management and Business Process Outsourced Services with our Headquarters based in Uganda and Country Office in Tanzania.

On behalf of Our client in the NGO Sector, we are looking for a competent and experienced Fundraising Officer to be based in Kampala

Reports To: Head of Resource Mobilization

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

Job Summary: The Fundraising Officer will develop and implement strategies to secure diverse funding sources, including grants, individual donations, corporate partnerships, and events. This role is essential for ensuring the financial sustainability of our programs and expanding our reach to support vulnerable communities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and annual targets.
  • Research, identify, and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including international foundations, bilateral/multilateral agencies, corporate partners, high-net-worth individuals, and local supporters.
  • Write high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and funding applications; ensure timely submission and follow-up.
  • Maintain and update a donor database; track donor interactions, pledges, and reporting requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, appeals, and digital initiatives to engage supporters and generate income.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with existing donors through stewardship, regular communication, and personalized engagement.
  • Monitor donor trends, funding opportunities, and compliance requirements; prepare regular reports on fundraising progress for leadership and board.
  • Collaborate with program teams to align fundraising efforts with project needs and impact stories.
  • Support communications efforts by developing compelling content (case studies, impact reports, newsletters) to attract and retain donors.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in fundraising/resource mobilization, preferably in the NGO/non-profit sector in Uganda or East Africa.
  • Strong track record of successfully securing grants and diverse funding sources.
  • Excellent writing and proposal development skills; experience with donor reporting and compliance.
  • Proficiency in donor research tools, CRM/donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge), and MS Office.
  • Outstanding communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan/East African donor landscape, international funding trends, and NGO regulations.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work under deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for donor meetings, events, or field visits.
