Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant posts that exist in Butaleja District Local Government.

Applications MUST be submitted in triplicate on PSC Form 3 (Revised 2008), and addressed to the Secretary, Butaleja District Local Government, P.O. Box 1, Butaleja, to be received not later than Friday 24th April, 2026, 5:00 pm. The application forms can be obtained from any District Service Commission Offices or Public Service Commission Offices, Farmers House 2nd floor, Kampala or from Public Service Commission website, www.psc.go.ug.
The applications should bear the Title of the post as well as the reference number specified against the vacancy. Applicants must attach verified O&A-level Documents by UNEB and Certified photocopies of all Academic Certificates and Transcripts, Registration Certificates. For Health Applicants include a valid Certified Practicing Licence, a photocopy of the National Identity card, Curriculum Vita, three (3) recent colored passport photographs and any other relevant documents like Appointment and Confirmation letters for serving officers. Only qualifications from recognized institutions will be considered. Serving officers must route their applications through their responsible officers who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay and should not have reached the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. The applicants who are not currently in the civil service should be below the age of 50 years. Applicants who will not hear from us on conclusion of the selection exercise should consider themselves unsuccessful. For all posts, women, persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Salary Scale: U5
Reports To: Senior Laboratory Technician
Responsible For: Laboratory Assistant
Job Purpose
To conduct generalized laboratory investigations for disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control.
Key Outputs
- Laboratory investigations done and results interpreted
- Clinical staff advised on proper collection, handling and transportation of specimen
- Quality assurance measures and safety precautions in the laboratory enforced
- Laboratory data compiled, analyzed and performance reports prepared and submitted
- Laboratory materials and sundries requisitioned and accounted for
- Primary health care activities supported
- Carrying out HRM functions such as staff development and performance appraisal
- Supplies for laboratories requisitioned and accounted for
- Professional and service code of conduct adhered to
- Research activities carried out
Key Functions
- Analyzing and interpreting laboratory test results and submitting reports
- Liaising with Ward management in the preparation of patients for laboratory tests
- Advising clinical staff in collection, handling and transportation of specimens to the laboratory
- Requisitioning and accounting for laboratory materials and sundries
- Maintaining an inventory of the laboratory equipment and ensuring their functionality
- Enforcing safety and quality control measures in the laboratory
- Participating in primary health care activities
- Compiling, analyzing and preparing performance reports for submission to relevant authorities
- Carrying out research activities
