Post: Librarian – 1 Post
Reference: UHPAB/HRM/LBN/021/26
Scale: UHPAB 5
Reports to: Senior Records Officer
Job Purpose
- To provide access to information, social and technological programming to user
Qualifications
- A Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Records and Archives Management or Library and Information Science or Information Science from a recognized University
Experience
- Not necessary
Duties and Responsibilities
- Catalog books by author and subject reference for quick information search and retrieval using the literature database – MIST
- Develop and maintain an effective library database for easy access and retrieval of information
- Classify books and records in accordance with the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) scheme
- Develop guidelines for library use
- Identify user needs and recommend materials for acquisition
- Carry out annual stocktaking of library information resources
- Establish and maintain a proper system of borrowing and returning library stock
- Assemble and index databases of library materials
- Compile and submit quarterly reports on library usage
- Manage clientele and maintain proper order of the facility

- Evidence of training and practice in specialized areas where applicable

- Priority should be given to only the relevant academic documents in the job specifications
- All applicants will have the opportunity to present additional relevant qualifications
