Job Description

Applications are invited from suitable and eligible Ugandans to fill vacant posts currently available in various departments in Kassanda District Local Government as specified below.

Applications should be filled in triplicate on PSF No.3 (Revised 2008) and submitted to the Secretary, DISTRICT SERVICE COMMISSION, P.O. BOX 196, MITYANA to be received not later than 5:00pm 22nd January, 2026.

The application forms can be obtained from Kassanda District Service Commission, Public Service Commission Offices at Farmers House 2nd floor, Parliamentary Avenue Kampala or downloaded on Public Service Commission website www.psc.go.ug.

  • Applications should bear the title of the post and the reference number specified against the vacancy.

  • Applicants should attach on each application form, photocopy of National ID, recent passport size coloured photograph, certified photocopies of their academic certificates, transcripts, UACE and UCE certificates, result-slips (where applicable) copies of Registration Certificates and valid practicing certificates (where applicable) and any other relevant documents.

Job Title : Head Teacher

Reports to : Sub County Chief

Job Purpose

To manage and provide technical guidance and leadership in the academic and administrative programmes of the institution.

  • Academic and administrative programmes effectively managed
  • Schemes of work and lesson plans prepared and implemented
  • School resources properly planned, budgeted, and accounted for
  • Staff performance supervised and appraised
  • School development projects initiated and resources mobilized

  • Education sector reforms implemented at the school level

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans and teaching according to the set timetable
  • Overall administration and management of the school
  • Planning for physical development of the school and professional development of staff
  • Organizing, directing, and coordinating teaching programmes and activities of staff and students
  • Ensuring proper planning, budgeting, and accountability of school activities and resources
  • Coordinating the functions of the Management Committee and accounting to them and the Ministry of Education and Sports
  • Initiating development projects and mobilizing resources for their implementation
  • Supervising and appraising all staff and assessing their performance
  • Preparing progress and summary reports for submission to the Management Committee and Ministry of Education and Sports
  • Directing student admissions, provision of supplies, and welfare services
  • Participating in the implementation of Education Sector reforms related to primary education
  • Planning and chairing school meetings
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Degree in Primary Education or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Attended at least four workshops/seminars and four short courses relevant to the profession
  • Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports
  • Minimum of twelve years working experience, including at least three years as Deputy Head Teacher or Principal Education Assistant with administrative responsibilities
