Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public Service Commission Form No. 3 (2008) to the Secretary, District Service Commission, P.O. Box 1551, Jinja to be received not later than 15th April 2026.
Application forms are obtainable from the Public Service Commission – Farmers House Kampala or any District/City Service Commission offices. Hand written applications with detailed CVs are also acceptable. Applications should bear the title of the post and the reference number specified against each post.
Applicants should attach three sets of certified photocopies of their full academic certificates, transcripts and slips, national identification and three recently certified passport size photographs.

Job Title: Principal Fisheries Officer
Salary Scale: U2
Reports to: District Production and Marketing Officer
Job Purpose
To provide leadership, technical support and guidance for the delivery of quality Fisheries extension services in Local Governments to facilitate quality and sustainable fisheries for improved livelihood of the communities.
Key Outputs
- Fisheries Sub-sector work plans and budgets preparation coordinated
- Fisheries activities in the District supervised
- Technical support in fisheries development and management provided in the District
- Fish folk, farmers and communities trained in good fishing technologies
- Collection, analysis and dissemination of information and statistical data on fisheries supervised
- Technical guidance and advice provided to the District administration
Key Functions
- Coordinating preparation of work plans and budgets for the Fisheries sub-sector
- Supervising fisheries activities in the district
- Providing technical support in fisheries development and management in the District
- Training of fish folk, farmers and communities in good fishing technologies
- Supervising collection, analysis and dissemination of information and statistical data on fisheries
- Providing technical guidance and advice on Fisheries issues to the administration of the District
Person Specifications
Qualifications
- Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Fisheries or BSc with a bias in Aquaculture/Aquatic Biology or Zoology and Botany plus a minimum of a postgraduate qualification in Fisheries, Aquaculture/Aquatic Biology from a recognized University/Institution
Experience
- At least 6 years working experience in fisheries work, three (3) of which should have been gained at the level of Senior Fisheries Officer in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization
