Location: Namutumba, Luuka, Serere, and Namayemba Communities, Uganda
Department: Education
Reports To: Head Teacher
Status: Full-Time

About the Role

The Student Coordinator will oversee the welfare, discipline, safety, and holistic development of students. The role connects students, teachers, parents, and school leadership while ensuring that learners receive appropriate academic, social, emotional, and spiritual support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate student welfare, discipline, attendance, and general wellbeing.
  • Oversee school devotions, discipleship activities, and student mentorship programs.
  • Support Christian character development and student spiritual growth.
  • Serve as the school’s Child Safeguarding Focal Point.
  • Promote child safety and protection from abuse, bullying, neglect, exploitation, and harmful punishment.
  • Handle and confidentially follow up on child protection concerns according to school policies and relevant laws.
  • Educate students, staff, and parents about child protection and online safety.
  • Conduct home visits to follow up on absenteeism, vulnerable students, and other welfare concerns.
  • Provide guidance and counseling or refer complex cases to appropriate professionals.
  • Monitor vulnerable, at-risk, and sponsored students and coordinate appropriate support.
  • Coordinate the school’s discipline and student code of conduct.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, discipline, welfare, and student enrollment.
  • Follow up on student absenteeism with parents and guardians.
  • Coordinate student registration, class placement, and transitions between grades.
  • Serve as a key contact person for parents and guardians regarding student welfare and discipline.
  • Organize parent meetings and support effective communication between families and the school.
  • Coordinate clubs, sports, co-curricular activities, fellowships, and student leadership programs.
  • Support mentorship, life-skills, talent-development, and student events.
  • Work closely with teachers and school leadership to address student concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings, devotions, and other school-wide activities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or administration.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in student welfare, discipline, guidance and counseling, or a related school-based role.
  • Good understanding of child protection and student welfare practices.
  • Personal Christian faith and commitment to Christ-centered student development.
