Company Description
The Kitara Civil Society Organisations’ Network (KCSON) is a registered non-profit organization that has been operating in Uganda’s Bunyoro and Rwenzori sub-regions since 2003. It serves as a voluntary network that brings together various civil society organizations, community-based groups, and NGOs to strengthen their collective voice and impact. The organization is legally recognized by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau and the National Bureau for NGOs, and its governance is led by a General Assembly and a Board of Directors.
KCSON’s primary mission is to empower vulnerable groups and provide a unified platform for research, advocacy, and capacity building to ensure sustainable development. Its strategic vision focuses on fostering a vibrant and coordinated civil society that promotes justice and peace. The network operates under core values of transparency, accountability, social justice, and equity, aiming to improve the living conditions of the communities it serves through structured partnerships and community-oriented interventions.
The network’s key program areas include governance, advocacy for effective service delivery, and the management of natural resources, livelihoods, and climate change. Over the years, KCSON has reached more than 150,000 beneficiaries through projects involving HIV/TB epidemic control, sustainable energy alternatives, and environmental protection in the Albertine region. Additionally, it provides institutional strengthening for its members, offering training and mentorship to enhance their credibility and resource mobilization efforts.
