Three internship openings embedded within three active WDF projects — Echoes of Hope, the Nourish Sack Garden Project, and the Maisha Mzuri Skilling Project. Interns gain structured, hands-on program experience.

About the Internship Programme

WDF is offering three structured internship positions embedded within active program projects. Each intern will be attached to one specific project and will contribute meaningfully to field activities, documentation, data management and communications. This is a practical learning experience suited for university students completing industrial training requirements or recent graduates seeking their first professional development sector engagement.

Interns will work under the supervision of the respective Project Officer and the Head of Programs & Strategic Partnerships.

Available Internship Posts & Project Placements

  • Post 1 — Echoes of Hope Project Intern: Supports peacebuilding, psychosocial support, and community reintegration activities. Tasks include community mobilization, case documentation, report writing, event coordination, and field data collection in target communities.
  • Post 2 — Nourish Sack Garden Project Intern: Supports the implementation of sack gardening and nutrition programming. Responsibilities include beneficiary engagement, garden monitoring visits, data collection, training logistics and content documentation for project reporting.
  • Post 3 — Maisha Mzuri Skilling Project Intern: Supports vocational training and livelihoods programming at WDF’s Skilling Facility. Duties include enrollment coordination, trainee progress tracking, skills assessment support and development of success stories and visibility content.

General Intern Responsibilities (All Posts)

  • Support day-to-day implementation of assigned project activities in coordination with the project team
  • Conduct and document field visits, community engagements and stakeholder interactions
  • Collect, enter and validate project data in line with M&E frameworks
  • Draft field reports, activity summaries and beneficiary success stories
  • Develop content for project communications — photos, captions, blogs and social media posts
  • Assist in planning and logistics for trainings, workshops and community events
  • Support the project team in maintaining up-to-date project files and records
  • Contribute to any other program support tasks as assigned

Person Specification

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognised University, College or tertiary institution in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Agriculture, Education, Community Psychology or related
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English; local language proficiency is a plus
  • Ability to work in community settings and engage respectfully with diverse populations
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to take initiative
  • Basic computer literacy — Microsoft Office, email and internet research
  • Photography/videography or social media content skills are a bonus
