Company Description
IsraAID is an international non-governmental organization that provides humanitarian aid and long-term development support to refugees and host communities in Uganda. Since establishing its presence in 2015, the organization has focused on building community resilience through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates protection, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.
In late 2025, IsraAID Uganda launched a new Country Strategy for 2025–2028, designed to address a critical funding gap in the humanitarian sector while shifting from short-term aid to long-term sustainability. This masterplan aims to reach over 200,000 direct beneficiaries by 2028, prioritizing self-reliance and the integration of refugee services into national systems. As of April 2026, the organization is actively recruiting for several roles, including Finance Officers and Nutrition Officers, to support this expanded strategy.
The organization’s current operations are concentrated in three primary locations: the Palorinya refugee settlement in Obongi District, the Nakivale settlement in Isingiro District, and the Nyakabande transit center in Kisoro District. While the Palorinya program is currently undergoing a planned evaluation and close-out phase set for June 2026, IsraAID is simultaneously scaling up its emergency response and nutrition programs in Nakivale and Nyakabande to support ongoing arrivals of refugees from neighbouring regions.
- Protection and Psychosocial Support: Utilizing community-based safety mechanisms, child-friendly spaces, and trauma-informed care to improve the well-being of displaced children and adults.
- Health and Nutrition: Managing community-based treatment for malnutrition (CMAM), conducting nutrition screenings for children and pregnant women, and ensuring access to essential primary healthcare.
- WASH Interventions: Constructing and maintaining sustainable water systems, training local water management committees, and promoting hygiene behavior change to prevent waterborne diseases.
- Capacity Building: Training local duty bearers and community members to identify risks and manage their own psychosocial support needs through community centers and traditional dance groups.
- Emergency Response: Providing rapid assistance, including food security and essential relief items, to new arrivals at transit centers and high-influx settlement sites.
