Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacancies that exist in the service of Hoima District Local Government.

Applicants who meet the stipulated requirements must apply through PSC Form 3 (2008) in triplicate fully filled with three recent passport photos attached, attach 3 photocopies of Certified Certificate, Pass – slips, Academic transcripts, Identity cards (including institutional and National Identity cards), and should indicate; Job Title, Reference number, Telephone contacts, email and postal addresses.

Job Title: District Engineer

Salary Scale: U1 E

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

Responsible for:

  • Senior Civil Engineers
  • Senior Assistant Engineering Officer (Mechanical)
Job Purpose

To coordinate and manage all engineering and technical works in the District.

Key Outputs
  • Technical advice and guidance to stakeholders provided
  • Technical specifications of contracts prepared
  • Supervision of technical works undertaken
  • Work plans and budgets for the District prepared
  • Building and other structural plans approved
  • Water and sanitation systems developed and maintained
  • Engineering and works policies enforced
Key Functions
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Preparing technical specifications of contracts
  • Supervising all technical works in the District
  • Preparing work plans and budgets for technical works in the District
  • Approving building and other structural plans
  • Developing and maintaining water and sanitation systems
  • Enforcing engineering and works policies
Person Specifications

Qualifications

  • Should hold an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institution
  • Should also have a Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Should be a registered Engineer with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB)
Experience
  • At least nine (9) years of experience in a civil engineering job, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Principal Engineer (Civil) in Government or an equivalent level from a reputable organization
