Job Description
This role is centered on understanding context, structuring thinking, and producing high-quality written outputs. It requires the ability to work with information from multiple sources, engage directly with underlying data and materials, interpret meaning, identify gaps, and translate this into insights and recommendations that can be used without further translation.
The role operates across multiple assignments and geographies, including in-country, regional, and Africa-wide work. It demands consistency, speed, and the ability to maintain quality under pressure.
This is not a technical processing role. It is a thinking and output-driven role that requires judgement, clarity, and professional communication.
The ideal candidate is one that is able to take information that is incomplete, complex, or spread across multiple sources and convert it into outputs that are clear, coherent, and directly usable for decision-making.
What You Will Deliver
- Insight-led outputs: Structured findings drawn from multiple information sources, clearly explaining what is happening, why it matters, and what should be done, with clear linkage to evidence
- Professional knowledge products: High-quality reports, presentations, and analytical outputs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and related tools) that are clearly structured, well-presented, and ready for client and evaluator use
- End-to-end proposal and bid outputs: Fully developed, competitive technical proposals, methodologies, and concept notes, produced independently from interpretation of Terms of Reference through to submission-ready documentation
- Program and policy inputs: Practical, context-aware recommendations that inform intervention design, results frameworks, and implementation approaches
- Cross-context outputs: Consistent delivery across sectors and geographies, adapting analysis and outputs to different market, policy, and socio-economic environments
- Complete and defensible outputs: Work that anticipates questions, addresses gaps, and does not leave critical areas unexplored
What This Role Requires
- Strong ability to interpret information within context, linking findings to real-world systems, markets, institutions, and behaviours
- Ability to work with raw, incomplete, and unstructured information, extracting meaning, identifying patterns, and building coherent narratives
- Capacity to interrogate information, challenge assumptions, identify inconsistencies, and resolve them through validation and triangulation
- Ability to engage directly with underlying datasets and source materials, ensuring all outputs are grounded in evidence and are analytically sound
- Proven ability to develop clear insights and recommendations, moving beyond summaries to implications, trade-offs, and actions
- Excellent professional writing and documentation skills, producing structured, concise, and high-quality outputs suitable for advisory and development contexts
- Strong presentation and formatting capability, ensuring outputs across Word, PowerPoint, Excel and similar tools are clear, consistent, and professionally delivered
- Demonstrated ability to develop complete technical proposals independently, including interpreting Terms of Reference, structuring methodologies, and producing submission-ready documents
- Strong structuring capability, organizing complex information into clear, logical outputs with no gaps, overlaps, or contradictions
- Ability to maintain coherence across large deliverables, ensuring alignment between sections, arguments, and conclusions
- Capacity to deliver at pace and volume, managing multiple assignments and parallel deliverables without compromising quality
- Ability to translate guided direction into high-quality outputs, requiring minimal iteration
What This Role Is Not
- Not suited for individuals who rely on tools without applying judgement or understanding context
- Not suited for candidates who can analyze but cannot translate findings into clear, structured written outputs
- Not suited for those who produce fragmented, inconsistent, or poorly organized work
- Not suited for individuals without demonstrated experience producing complete, client-ready deliverables independently
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in research, advisory, program support, or similar roles
- Demonstrated experience producing high-quality reports, proposals, and analytical outputs
- Proven experience in end-to-end proposal development, with evidence of independently producing competitive submissions
- Experience working across multiple sectors, countries, or regional assignments is an added advantage
