ABOUT UETCL
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a Public Limited Company fully owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and holds the following operational licences:
- System Operator
- Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid
- Bulk Power Supply
- Import and Export of Power
- Public Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre)

JOB PURPOSE
To engage all generation plants to provide generation declarations, plan and schedule power production in an optimal way to meet system demand, prepare trade bids and submit them into the trading platform, issue dispatch instructions to generators, schedule cleared interchanges in the Automatic Generation Control (AGC) server, and carry out generation-demand forecasting.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Generation planning and generator scheduling (day-ahead and weekly).
- Daily engagement with power plants, eligible generators, and eligible consumers for availability and consumption declarations.
- Assess and determine Available Transmission Capacity (ATC) inputs for power trading.
- Prepare Day-Ahead Market (DAM) bids for power trading.
- Schedule DAM exchange volumes in the AGC server.
- Issue dispatch instructions to generation plants and confirm available capacity to eligible consumers.
- Prepare generation reports.
- Conduct forward physical market planning.
- Carry out power system analysis to support system operation decisions.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in power system operations.
- Experience in generation planning is an added advantage.
Competencies
- Leadership and supervisory skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND REMUNERATION
- The successful candidate will be offered a contract subject to the Ministry of Public Service Guidelines on the Rationalization Exercise of Government Institutions.
