Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the underlisted vacant posts that exist in Ntungamo District Local Government.

Application forms filled in triplicate on Public Service Form No. 3 (Revised 2008) and ESC Form No. 3 (Revised 1998) for Teachers, with day time phone contact should be submitted to the Secretary, District Service Commission, Ntungamo District Local Government P.O Box 1 Ntungamo, not later than Wednesday July 22, 2026 stating clearly the post applied for and its reference number.

Application forms can be obtained from Secretaries of District Service Commissions, Offices of Chief Administrative Officers, and Town Clerks for Municipal Councils and Public Service Commission.

Those already in public service, must route their applications through their Heads of Departments who should be informed of the closing date to avoid delay.

Certified copies of academic documents (Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, Transcripts, Result Slips/Pass Slips), from all the Universities/Institutions/Colleges/Schools attended NINs, Registration Certificates and Annual Practicing Licenses where applicable and any other supporting documents with 3 recent passport size photographs MUST be attached on the application forms.

Those that will be invited for interviews must come with all Original Certified Academic and professional/Employment documents. (Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, Transcripts, Result Slips/Pass Slips,) from all the Universities/Institutions/Colleges/Schools/Entities attended/worked for and original National Identification Numbers (NINs).

  • Senior Civil Engineers
  • Senior Assistant Engineering Officer (Mechanical)
Job Purpose

To coordinate and manage all engineering and technical works in the District.

Key Outputs
  • Technical advice and guidance to stakeholders provided.
  • Technical specifications of contracts prepared.
  • Supervision of technical works undertaken.
  • Work plans and budgets for the District prepared.
  • Building and other structural plans approved.
  • Water and sanitation systems developed and maintained.
  • Engineering and works policies enforced.
Key Functions
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Preparing technical specifications of contracts.
  • Supervising all technical works in the District.
  • Preparing work plans and budgets for technical works in the District.
  • Approving building and other structural plans.
  • Developing and maintaining water and sanitation systems.
  • Enforcing engineering and works policies.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
  • Should hold an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.
  • Should possess a Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Should be a registered Engineer with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB).
Experience
  • At least nine (9) years of experience in a civil engineering job.
  • Three (3) of the nine years should have been served at the level of Principal Engineer (Civil) in Government or an equivalent level in a reputable organization.
