Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client Kabula Farmers’ Cooperative Society, we are looking for a skilled and competent Field Operations Manager to work on site.

 

Reports To:   General Manager

Station:         KABUFACO Head Office with frequent travel to Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) and    farmers’ locations.

 

Job Purpose

The Field Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating all field operations aimed at increasing milk volumes, strengthening farmer relationships, improving member participation, and ensuring sustainable growth of KABUFACO. The position serves as the link between farmers, Milk Collection Centers (MCCs), and the Cooperative’s management.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Farmer Mobilization and Milk Supply Development
  • Mobilize dairy farmers to supply milk through KABUFACO.
  • Identify and recruit new milk suppliers and members.
  • Re-engage farmers who previously stopped supplying milk to the Cooperative.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase daily milk volumes.
  • Conduct regular farmer meetings and sensitization campaigns.
  1. Farmer Profiling and Database Management
  • Register and profile all farmers supplying milk.
  • Maintain an updated farmer database with production, herd size, location, contacts and membership information.
  • Identify high-potential farmers for production improvement programmes.
  • Generate regular field reports and farmer statistics.
  1. Farmer Support and Feedback
  • Serve as the primary contact between farmers and KABUFACO management.
  • Collect, document and communicate farmer concerns, complaints and recommendations.
  • Coordinate timely responses to farmer issues.
  • Monitor farmer satisfaction and recommend service improvements.
  • Promote good dairy farming and milk handling practices.
  1. Coordination of Milk Collection Centre (MCC) Operations
  • Work closely with MCC Committees and Milk Collection Centre staff.
  • Support MCC Committees in farmer mobilization and retention.
  • Monitor milk collection trends at each MCC.
  • Develop interventions to reduce supplier dropouts.
  • Coordinate campaigns to recover former suppliers and attract new suppliers.
  • Strengthen relationships between farmers, MCC Committees and KABUFACO management.
  1. Membership and Share Capital Mobilization
  • Mobilize farmers to purchase Cooperative shares.
  • Promote member participation in Cooperative activities.
  • Increase share capital through continuous member education.
  • Monitor and report progress on share capital mobilization.
  • Support membership recruitment and retention programmes.
  1. Field Monitoring and Performance
  • Conduct routine field visits to all operational areas.
  • Monitor farmer attendance at meetings and Cooperative activities.
  • Evaluate field staff and mobilization performance.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly field performance reports.
  • Recommend corrective actions where performance gaps exist.
  1. Extension and Capacity Building
  • Coordinate farmer training programmes.
  • Promote quality milk production and proper milk handling.
  • Work with development partners and government extension staff.
  • Support implementation of livestock improvement programmes including Artificial Insemination, disease control and pasture development.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with local leaders, veterinary officers and development partners.
  • Represent KABUFACO during field meetings and community engagements.
  • Promote the Cooperative’s vision, mission and values.
  1. Other Duties
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the General Manager.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Increase in daily milk volumes.
  • Number of new farmers recruited.
  • Number of inactive farmers reactivated.
  • Reduction in farmer dropout rate.
  • Growth in Cooperative membership.
  • Share capital mobilized.
  • Farmer satisfaction levels.
  • Percentage of profiled farmers with updated records.
  • Number of farmer trainings conducted.
  • Frequency and quality of field reports submitted.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in animal production, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Cooperative Management, Rural Development or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience in dairy value chain management, cooperative development, agricultural extension or field operations.
  • Experience working with dairy farmers and farmer organizations is highly desirable.

Competencies

  • Excellent communication and mobilization skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze field data and prepare reports.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office and mobile data collection tools.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is an added advantage.
  • High integrity and commitment to cooperative values.

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel to Milk Collection Centers and farmer communities.
  • Flexible working hours depending on field activities.
  • Occasional weekend work during mobilization campaigns and Cooperative events.
