Reports to: Program Area Manager
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Area Manager and the overall technical guidance of MCAHN Specialist,
the Project Assistant Maternal Child adolescent health and nutrition(MCAH) will provide technical and
operational support for the implementation of the Physical and Mental Well-being (PMWB) Flourishing Area
under the UNLOCK program model. The Project Assistant will support the planning, coordination,
implementation, monitoring, documentation, and reporting of Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health and
Nutrition (MCAHN), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Community Health Systems
Strengthening, integrated community nutrition, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions. The role
will ensure quality implementation of PMWB initiatives while strengthening collaboration with Area
Program, government structures, implementing partners, and communities.
Key Result Area 1: Program Implementation and Technical Support
• Support implementation of PMWB activities in line with Unlock programming model, Ministry of Health
guidelines, WHO standards, and donor requirements.
• Coordinate implementation of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MCAHN)
interventions across Area Programs.
• Support implementation of community-based nutrition, IMAM, MIYCAN, Community IMCI, adolescent
health, maternal nutrition and mental health interventions.
• Support integration of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Early Childhood Development
(ECD), disability inclusion, safeguarding, gender equality, and youth-responsive approaches into PMWB
programming.
• Coordinate trainings, mentorships, coaching sessions, review meetings, and supportive supervision for
frontline workers.
• Assist in development, adaptation and dissemination of technical tools, job aids, training materials,
guidelines, and implementation manuals.
• Support planning and implementation of assessments, surveys, baseline studies, operational research,
and learning activities.
• Participate in health facility mentorships, community monitoring visits, and technical quality assurance
activities.
• Support implementation of quality improvement initiatives within health facilities and communities.
• Coordinate logistics and follow-up for technical meetings, workshops, learning events, and field activities.
Support documentation of best practices, innovations, lessons learned, and success stories. Key Result Area
2: Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge Management
• Support routine collection, verification, compilation, analysis, and reporting of PMWB program data.
• Maintain high-quality databases and ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of reports.
• Support data quality assessments (DQAs), supportive supervision, and routine monitoring visits.
• Work closely with the MERL team to monitor program performance against indicators.
• Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and donor reports.
• Assist in analysis and visualization of program performance data to inform decision-making.
• Support documentation and dissemination of evidence, learning briefs, case studies, and technical
reports.
• Ensure ethical data collection, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational data management
standards.
Key Result Area 3: Partnership Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
• Participate in district technical working groups, coordination meetings, and stakeholder engagements at
Area program level
• Maintain effective communication with Area Program teams to ensure coordinated implementation.
• Support preparation of concept notes, proposals, technical presentations, and donor documentation.
• Assist in organizing partner meetings, review workshops, learning events, and coordination forums.
• Support mapping and engagement of relevant PMWB stakeholders and service providers.
Key Result Area 4: Administrative and Operational Support
• Support preparation of annual work plans, procurement plans, budgets, and activity schedules.
• Follow up procurement of technical supplies, training materials, and program commodities.
• Prepare activity reports, travel documentation, and accountability documentation.
• Support compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, safeguarding, and risk management
procedures.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification: Education and Experience
• Diploma in human nutrition, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Technology,
Environmental Health, Community Health, or another relevant health-related field from a recognized
institution
• Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
• A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in implementing Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health
and Nutrition, community health, nutrition, mental health programming and stakeholder and
community engagement preferably in an NGO or development context.
• Experience working with NGOs, government health systems, or development partners.
• Experience supporting community-based health and nutrition interventions.
• Experience organizing trainings, supportive supervision, and mentorship activities.
• Experience supporting monitoring, reporting, and data management.
• Experience working with district local governments and community structures is desirable.

• Knowledge of IMAM, MIYCAN, Community, maternal nutrition, adolescent health, and nutrition
programming.
• Experience supporting monitoring and evaluation activities.
• Ability to analyze and interpret routine health and nutrition data.
• Good report writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to organize trainings, meetings, and field activities.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using DHIS2, KoboCollect/ODK, CommCare, or similar digital data collection platforms is an
added advantage.
• Knowledge of systems thinking programming is an added advantage
• Strong facilitation skills in working with community groups.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to donor relations and international
development.
• Computer application skills mainly MS Office, and data management.
