Company Description

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)—commonly known as Doctors Without Borders—is an international, independent medical humanitarian non-governmental organisation. Founded in France in 1971, the global movement provides emergency medical assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. In Uganda, the organisation coordinates its countrywide field operations from its national headquarters located at Plot 21, Semakula Close in Muyenga, Kampala.
In Uganda, the organisation directs its field interventions toward addressing critical healthcare gaps for adolescent populations and regional refugees fleeing cross-border instability. Its core local competencies focus on delivering maternal healthcare, emergency medical response, and specialized treatment for infectious and tropical diseases. Additionally, MSF teams step in during national health emergencies to support the Ministry of Health with epidemiological surveillance, case isolation, and strict infection prevention protocols during acute disease outbreaks.
A prominent project in the country is the Kasese Adolescent Clinic, which delivers comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare alongside mental health support for young people. Furthermore, the organization’s dedicated epidemiological research branch, Epicentre, has run a highly advanced research center at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology. This specialized laboratory conducts crucial medical trials aimed at optimizing the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, yellow fever, and malaria, while maintaining operational independence through private funding
