Job Description

Exquisite Solution Limited is hiring an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist for our client in the telecommunications sector. The position is responsible for coordinating import documentation, customs clearance, regulatory compliance, and logistics to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate import and customs documentation.
  • Obtain required import licenses, permits, and approvals on time.
  • Coordinate and track international shipments to ensure timely arrival.
  • Liaise with banks and customs authorities to obtain PAAR and complete pre-clearance requirements.
  • Obtain rotation numbers and initiate pre-clearance activities in advance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of import duties and taxes to URA.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and LSPs to expedite clearance and delivery.
  • Monitor customs clearance lead times and ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Resolve customs queries, clearance issues, and post-clearance audit matters promptly.
  • Coordinate inland transportation, LSP invoices, refunds, and POD documentation, ensuring proper records and timely handover to Finance or Projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of WCO and WTO international trade rules and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Uganda’s import and export procedures and guidelines.
  • Thorough understanding of Uganda Customs laws, regulations, and clearance procedures.
  • Proven experience in handling and resolving customs disputes and compliance issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of HS Code classification and customs valuation rules.
  • Experience managing free-zone and bonded warehouse transactions.
  • Practical knowledge of Transire customs clearance procedures.
