HEAD REVENUE AND MARKET PLANNING
Position Description
Job Title: Head Revenue and Market Planning
Function: Marketing
Reports To: Marketing Director
Location: Kampala
Role Summary
Analytics wing of Group Marketing, driving Revenue performance review and
forecasting, Market planning (e.g. where should we build new sites?) and strategic
pricing decisions (this does not reside in OpCos) using highly specialized tools and
knowledge of the 16 markets across Africa, to ensure that the organization delivers on
its Top line objectives.
Deliverables
Revenue Performance & Analytics
● Weekly and Monthly updates on revenue performance with highlights and
recommendations for solving the problem areas.
● PCN Reviews and approvals.
● Drive understanding of linkages between Market Research indicators and
Revenue and RMS performance.
Revenue Forecasting and Budgeting
● Responsibility for delivery of annual revenue budget.
● Driving revenue forecasting accuracy in monthly flash.
Market Planning
● Site roll-out guidelines.
● Site performance tracking post launch.
● Overall site performance tracking.
Evaluate Marketing Business Case Viability and Other Ad-hoc Marketing Analysis
● Evaluate business case viability for new product launches and businesses
launched on a Pan African basis for Go/no-Go decision; post launch performance
tracking.
● S&D Opex Commission Proposals.
● Handset and Device subsidy proposals.
● Build vs. buy analysis.
● Tactical projects analysis.
Benchmarking and Market Intelligence
● External CMS and RMS Benchmarking.
● Detailed Monthly Internal (16 OpCos) KPI Benchmarking for Revenue + S&D +
Marketing Opex.
Build a Capable and Motivated Team to Create a High-Performance Team Environment
● Recruit the right talent in consultation with function/department head, as per
defined recruitment guidelines.
● Develop team members through structured training and on the job coaching.
● Establish performance expectations and regularly review individual
performance.
● Recommend appropriate rewards and recognition.

Education, Training,
Skills & Experience

● Strong understanding of all aspects of marketing, good communication and
people skills, understanding of local markets.
● Team Leadership.

● Creativity (out-of-the-box thinking) and Commercial Acumen.
● Customer service orientation.
● Effective Communication and Negotiation Skills.
Educational Level (Must have)
● Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Technology with in-depth understanding of
telecom trends.
● MBA in Marketing.
Working Experience (Must have)
● 5+ years of experience in leading a highly qualified and experienced team in a
highly complex environment.
● 3+ years of experience in leading cross-cultural teams.
● 10+ years of in-depth experience in Market planning in the
telecom/FMCG/Retail space.
