Company Description
Abim District is situated in the Karamoja sub-region of Northeastern Uganda. It shares borders with Kotido District to the north, Napak District to the east, Otuke and Alebtong Districts to the south, and Otuke and Amuria Districts to the west. The district covers a semi-arid landscape characterised by rolling hills and savannah grasslands, which influence the predominantly agro-pastoralist lifestyle of its communities. Abim is located approximately 400 kilometers northeast of Kampala, making it a key part of the Karamoja region both geographically and administratively.
Abim District Local Government operates under Uganda’s decentralised system of governance, overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery of public services across the district. Its administration manages sectors including education, health, agriculture, works, water, and community development. Through the District Council, technical departments, and lower local governments, it mobilises resources, implements development plans, and ensures that national policies are effectively adapted to local needs for sustainable development.
The Abim District Service Commission is the statutory body responsible for human resource management within the district public service. The Commission oversees recruitment, appointments, confirmations, promotions, and disciplinary measures for district staff. By ensuring merit-based processes, transparency, and adherence to public service regulations, the Commission maintains an efficient and professional workforce that supports the district’s service delivery and governance objectives.
