Company Description
Bundibugyo District is located in the Rwenzori sub-region of Western Uganda, along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. It lies on the western slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains and is characterised by a rugged terrain, fertile valleys and a tropical climate that supports agriculture as the main economic activity. The district’s location within the Albertine Rift gives it significant ecological importance, while its border position makes it strategically relevant for cross-border trade and security.
Bundibugyo District Local Government operates under Uganda’s decentralised system, with the mandate to plan, coordinate and deliver public services to the population. Through its political leadership and technical departments, the district oversees sectors such as health, education, production and marketing, works, water, and community development. It is responsible for translating national policies into local action, mobilising resources, preparing development plans and budgets, and supervising lower local governments to ensure effective service delivery.
The Bundibugyo District Service Commission is the statutory body charged with managing human resource functions within the district public service. In accordance with the Constitution and the Local Governments Act, the Commission handles recruitment, appointments, confirmations, promotions and disciplinary control of district staff. By upholding merit, transparency and established public service procedures, it ensures that the district maintains a competent and accountable workforce to support service delivery.
