Company Description
Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda Limited (CCBU) operates as the official local subsidiary and production partner of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), the largest bottling franchise on the continent. To achieve modern corporate integration and streamline logistics, the parent company executed a major legal consolidation in July 2022. This structural move merged two historic, independent Ugandan entities—Century Bottling Company Limited (CBC) and Rwenzori Bottling Company Limited (RBC)—into a single unified corporate architecture to drive manufacturing and national distribution efficiencies.
The corporation runs its large-scale processing, bottling, and supply chain logistics out of two massive industrial plants located in Namanve (Kampala) and Mbarara City. Its main operational base is the Namanve plant, situated at Plot 964, Kyaggwe within the Kampala Industrial and Business Park, which houses advanced automated production lines representing tens of millions of dollars in capital investment. Additionally, the company actively tackles plastic pollution through its Plastics Recycling Industries (PRI) division in Nakawa, which stands as Uganda’s leading corporate recycling and bottle collection facility.Â
The company’s extensive local portfolio features a diverse mix of sparkling carbonated soft drinks, premium hydration products, energy supplements, and dairy items. Beyond global flagships like Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Sprite, CCBU manufactures and bottles Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water, which remains the dominant bottled water brand across Ugandan markets. Their beverage ecosystem also includes the Minute Maid juice lineup, high-performance energy brands like Predator, and locally sourced dairy drinks produced under the government’s Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative.Â
Socio-economically, the bottling giant acts as a prominent contributor to Uganda’s industrial development, creating direct jobs for more than 1,800 citizens. Its complex distribution model anchors the economic livelihoods of over 90,000 independent domestic retailers, wholesalers, and micro-distribution nodes across rural and urban districts. Led locally by General Manager Emmy Hashakimana, CCBU pays over UGX 140 billion in annual taxes to the Uganda Revenue Authority and is officially certified as a Top Employer in Uganda due to its continuous investment in workforce skills and women-empowerment programs
