Company Description
Fido Credit Uganda is a leading microfinance financial technology (fintech) company operating in Kampala, Uganda. The company’s regional physical office is located on the 7th Floor of the Rumee Tower along Lumumba Avenue. It is licensed as a Tier-4 non-deposit-taking microfinance institution and operates under the strict regulatory oversight of the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA).
The institution focuses on driving financial inclusion across Sub-Saharan Africa by delivering fast, unsecured digital credit to individuals and small businesses. Its core products are split into personal loans capped up to UGX 1.4 million and specialized business loans through its “FidoBiz” segment capped up to UGX 2.5 million. The microfinance platform requires no physical paperwork, guarantors, or collateral to secure capital.
Operationally, the firm relies entirely on its mobile software ecosystem and a proprietary machine-learning risk algorithm called the Fido Score. Consumers download the official application from platforms like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, input their National Identification Number (NIN), and undergo a quick financial assessment. Approved credit balances are then processed and instantly disbursed to client MTN or Airtel Mobile Money wallets within minutes.
The broader mission of the enterprise is to bridge credit access gaps for the unbanked and economically invisible populations. By promoting transparent, upfront daily interest structures, the application penalizes late payments but rewards early settlements with cheaper, expanding credit limits over time. This trust-based approach helps local entrepreneurs and market vendors build verifiable digital financial tracking identities.
