Company Description

FINASP Uganda (Facilitation for Innovations and Sustainable Productivity) is a national non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development for underprivileged communities in Uganda. Originally established in 2010 as a student association at Makerere University, it was officially registered as an NGO in March 2014. The organization is headquartered in Lira City, with additional regional offices in Soroti and a contact office in Kampala.
FINASP operates under a mission to foster self-reliant communities through capacity building, evidence-based research, and innovative technology adoption. As of 2026, the organization is implementing an ambitious strategic roadmap for 2024–2030, which targets reaching 2 million farmers to improve household resilience and economic stability. Their work is primarily concentrated in the Northern and Eastern regions of Uganda, where they collaborate with international partners like the Embassy of the Netherlands and GOAL on large-scale initiatives such as the INSPIRE project.
The organization’s current activities focus on several critical thematic areas aimed at transforming rural economies and protecting natural resources. By integrating research with practical community applications, FINASP ensures that its interventions—ranging from climate-smart irrigation to youth skills development—are both effective and sustainable.
  • Sustainable Livelihoods: Enhancing food, nutrition, and income security through climate-resilient agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and water security (WASH) initiatives.
  • Research and Innovations: Conducting applied and experimental research in agriculture, health, and environmental management to drive the adoption of new technologies.
  • Institution Development: Strengthening internal systems and investing in social enterprises to ensure long-term development impact and organizational sustainability.
  • Youth and Women Empowerment: Providing specialized training and vocational skills to marginalized groups to foster entrepreneurship and economic independence.
  • Climate Change Adaptation: Implementing models that help communities manage natural resources and mitigate the effects of environmental degradation and climate shocks.
