Company Description

According to Article 169 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, the Health Service Commission is composed of a Chairperson, a Deputy Chairperson, and five (5) other Members. All members of the Commission are appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament, ensuring both executive nomination and legislative oversight in its formation. This constitutional provision establishes the legal structure and authority of the Commission.

Article 169 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, together with Section 4 of the Health Service Commission Act, 2001, further provides for the appointment of a Deputy Chairperson by the President. These provisions clarify leadership roles within the Commission and reinforce the President’s mandate to constitute its membership in accordance with the law. As a result, the Commission formally consists of the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and five Members.

Currently, the Health Service Commission comprises the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and five appointed Members serving in accordance with the Constitution and the Health Service Commission Act. This composition ensures collective oversight and governance of human resource functions within Uganda’s public health service, supporting transparent appointments, promotions, and disciplinary control in the sector.
