Company Description
Kassanda District Local Government began operations in the financial year 2017/2018, following its creation through a split from Mubende District. The district is strategically located approximately 120 kilometres from Kampala and shares borders with Mubende, Mityana, Kiboga, and Gomba districts, positioning it within a dynamic central region of Uganda.
The district is administratively divided into 12 sub-counties—Makokoto, Bukuuya, Kalwana, Kitumbi, Manyogaseka, Kiganda, Naluttutu, Myanzi, Kassanda, Kamuli, Kijuna, and Mbiriizi—and three town councils: Kassanda, Kiganda, and Bukuya. This administrative structure facilitates local governance, service delivery, and community development initiatives across both urban and rural areas of the district.
Kassanda’s economy is primarily driven by agriculture and mining. Key agricultural activities include coffee cultivation, maize farming, and cattle rearing, which provide livelihoods for the majority of residents. In addition, gold mining is a significant economic activity in the sub-counties of Kitumbi, Bukuuya, and Makokoto, contributing to both household incomes and the district’s overall economic growth. These combined sectors underpin the district’s development and sustain its communities.
