Company Description
LivingStone International University (LIU) is a private, non-profit Christian higher education institution in Eastern Uganda. Conceived in 2006 through a partnership between local Christian missionaries and U.S. church leaders, the university received a provisional license from the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in 2010. It officially opened its doors to its inaugural class on January 16, 2012, operating under the guiding motto, “Building the Nations of Africa”.
The university is permanently situated on a 56-acre master-planned campus located in Kamonkoli, Budaka District, positioned along the busy Kampala–Jinja–Mbale highway. Designed by Engineering Ministries International, the modern campus facilities are built to support a long-term student population growth of up to 4,000 learners. Its unique strategic location lies just about 5 miles outside of Mbale City, combining a serene, suburban learning environment with broad regional accessibility.
LIU provides a robust array of NCHE-accredited certificate, diploma, and bachelor’s degree programs across six specialized faculties. These include the schools of Computing and Information Technology, Journalism and Media Technology, Business Administration, Christian Ministry, Education, and Agriculture. Dedicated to a holistic educational approach, the curriculum heavily synthesizes rigorous, practical real-world training with Christ-centered spiritual mentorship to develop highly employable, ethical leaders.
The campus boasts a highly diverse, multinational student body, drawing youth from all over the East African region, including Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. To assist talented students facing financial hardships, the university administers structured financial aid initiatives, such as the Fletcher Scholars Sponsorship Program. Driven by a vision of continental transformation, LIU continues to expand its infrastructural footprint and academic portfolio as it actively works toward attaining its university charter.
