Company Description
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is a key government institution in Uganda responsible for promoting agricultural development, livestock production, and sustainable fisheries management. Its mandate is to ensure food security, increase productivity, enhance rural livelihoods, and contribute to national economic growth through effective policy formulation, regulation, and service delivery across the agriculture, animal, and fisheries sectors.
MAAIF coordinates the development and implementation of strategies, programs, and regulations related to crop production, livestock management, fisheries, agricultural research, and extension services. The Ministry works closely with local governments, private sector actors, farmers’ organizations, and development partners to provide technical support, capacity building, and access to inputs and markets for farmers and producers.
Through its work, MAAIF aims to modernize Uganda’s agriculture sector, promote sustainable and climate-smart practices, and facilitate innovations that increase productivity and income for farmers. The Ministry also ensures compliance with quality standards, supports disease control in livestock, and fosters responsible fisheries management to secure the nation’s food supply and natural resource base.
