Med-Optics Limited (commonly known as MedOptics Uganda) is one of the country’s premier private providers of specialized optometry and ophthalmic services. Established in 2002 by UK-trained veteran optometrist Mr. Anguyo Dralega, the practice initially began as a single vision care clinic on Buganda Road. Over more than two decades of regional expansion, it has developed into a highly trusted corporate network of specialized vision centers dedicated to preserving, enhancing, and protecting consumer eye health across Uganda.
The administrative operations, quality assurance frameworks, and logistics are centrally managed from the Med-Optics Head Office, located at Plot 63 Jinja Road within the UMA Showgrounds in Lugogo, Kampala. The head office coordinates business management systems, clinical standards, and product distributions across high-street outlets and hospital-based centers. The enterprise delivers an exhaustive medical portfolio that covers automated digital eye assessments, pediatric refractions, glaucoma screenings, and professional contact lens fittings. To back its clinical services, Med-Optics runs its own advanced optical laboratory that manufactures, glazes, and customizes high-quality prescription lenses, including blue-cut protective lenses and premium Kodak digital lenses. Most of their high-street service centers operate Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
To maximize national accessibility, the company operates a robust network of strategically situated branches across Uganda’s urban centers and healthcare institutions. Within Kampala, patients can access their walk-in services at the Mabirizi Complex along Kampala Road, Forest Mall in Lugogo, Ntinda, Lubaga, and Mengo Hospital. Upcountry communities and regional centers are supported by fully-equipped, standalone branches operating in Arua City, Gulu City, Masaka, Mukono, and hospital-integrated units like Mildmay Hospital in Lweza and Entebbe General Hospital.
