Company Description
Mityana District is located in the Central Region of Uganda, forming part of the Buganda sub-region. It is bordered by Kiboga District to the north, Nakaseke to the northeast, Luweero to the east, Wakiso to the south, and Mubende to the west. The district’s administrative headquarters are in Mityana town, which also serves as its economic and commercial centre. With fertile soils and favorable rainfall, Mityana supports robust agricultural activity, notably the cultivation of bananas, coffee, maize, beans, sweet potatoes, and horticultural crops. Livestock farming, small-scale trade, and artisanal enterprises further contribute to the local economy.
Mityana District Local Government is the administrative body tasked with planning, coordinating, and delivering public services in line with Uganda’s decentralisation framework. It manages development programmes across key sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, agriculture, infrastructure, and community development. The District Council, elected leaders, and technical officers work collaboratively to prepare budgets, implement policies, and ensure that national development priorities are translated into effective local action. Through partnerships with lower local governments (sub-counties and town councils), the Local Government strives to improve livelihoods, strengthen institutions, and promote inclusive growth for residents of Mityana.
The Mityana District Service Commission is a statutory body mandated to oversee human resource functions within the District Local Government. Its primary responsibilities include recruiting district public servants, confirming appointments, managing promotions, and handling disciplinary matters for staff within the district service. By enforcing merit-based selection, fairness, and transparency in staffing decisions, the Service Commission helps cultivate a competent, ethical, and motivated workforce. This contributes directly to enhanced service delivery, accountability, and operational efficiency across the district’s public institutions.
