Company Description

Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MoTIC) derives its mandate from the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (1995), Article 189 and the Sixth Schedule (Sections 11, 12, 13, 20, 23, 25 and 29). The Ministry is responsible for formulating, reviewing, and supporting policies, strategies, plans, and programmes that promote the expansion and diversification of trade, cooperatives, and environmentally sustainable industrialization. It also guides appropriate technology development and transfer to stimulate wealth creation, reduce poverty, and enhance Uganda’s social and economic transformation.

The Ministry’s vision is to foster sustainable cooperatives, competitive trade systems, and world-class industrial products and services. This vision reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening Uganda’s productive sectors so they can compete regionally and globally, while ensuring inclusive growth that benefits enterprises, farmers, manufacturers, and consumers alike.

Its mission is to develop and promote a competitive, export-led private sector by accelerating industrial development for economic growth. Through regulatory oversight, policy guidance, and institutional support, the Ministry works to create an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, value chains can mature, and Uganda’s industrial base can expand in a structured and sustainable manner.
