Company Description
Nebbi District is located in the northwestern part of Uganda within the West Nile sub-region. It shares borders with Pakwach District to the east, Zombo District to the north, Arua District to the northwest, and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. The River Nile forms part of its southeastern boundary, contributing to the district’s agricultural and fishing activities. Nebbi serves as a strategic gateway within West Nile, with Nebbi Town acting as the main urban and administrative center. The district is predominantly inhabited by the Alur community, whose cultural heritage significantly shapes the area’s social and economic life.
The Nebbi District Local Government operates under Uganda’s decentralization framework, delivering public services in sectors such as education, health, production, works, and community development. Through its administrative structures—comprising sub-counties, town councils, and lower local councils—the district coordinates planning, budgeting, and implementation of government programs aimed at improving livelihoods and infrastructure. Agriculture remains the backbone of the local economy, with crop farming, livestock keeping, and fishing playing central roles in household income and food security.
The Nebbi District Service Commission is a statutory body mandated to manage human resource functions for the district. It is responsible for recruiting, confirming, promoting, disciplining, and advising on matters related to public servants within the district’s jurisdiction. By ensuring merit-based appointments and adherence to public service standards, the Commission supports institutional efficiency and strengthens service delivery across all departments of the district local government.
