Company Description
Rukiga District is located in South Western Uganda and was created in 2019 after being carved out of Kabale District. The district is characterized by highland terrain, fertile soils, and a dense rural population, making agriculture the backbone of its economy. Major economic activities include crop farming—particularly Irish potatoes, beans, sorghum, and vegetables—alongside small-scale livestock rearing and trade.
Rukiga District Local Government operates under Uganda’s decentralised governance system and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering public services to the people of the district. Its mandate covers key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, water and sanitation, roads, and community development, with a focus on improving livelihoods and socio-economic transformation.
Rukiga District Service Commission is mandated to manage human resources for the district public service. The Commission is responsible for the recruitment, appointment, confirmation, promotion, and disciplinary control of public officers serving in the district. By ensuring the deployment of competent and qualified personnel, the Commission plays a critical role in strengthening service delivery and accountability within Rukiga District.
