Company Description

The TVET Council is a national regulatory and coordinating body responsible for overseeing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Uganda. It was established to strengthen the quality, relevance, and credibility of skills development across the country by ensuring that training institutions and programmes meet nationally approved standards. The Council plays a central role in aligning vocational and technical education with labour market demands and national development priorities.

The Council’s core functions include accreditation and licensing of TVET institutions, registration of training providers, development and enforcement of training standards, and quality assurance of programmes and assessments. It works closely with government ministries, training institutions, industry players, and development partners to promote competency-based training, standardized curricula, and certification systems that equip learners with practical, employable skills. The Council also supports monitoring and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement within the sector.

Through its mandate, the TVET Council aims to produce a skilled, competent, and competitive workforce capable of driving industrialization, entrepreneurship, and economic transformation. By strengthening partnerships between training institutions and industry, the Council enhances the relevance of skills training and creates pathways for youth and adults to access meaningful employment and self-reliance.
