The core of Yongeza’s business model is its pioneering Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) framework. Instead of forcing electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers and commercial motorcycle fleet operators to build their own expensive charging grids, Yongeza sets up and manages shared, multi-OEM battery swapping stations. Boda-boda riders can pull up to these stations and swap a depleted battery for a fully charged one in seconds, effectively wiping out the traditional downtime required to plug in an EV.
To rapidly scale this network, the company relies on highly strategic, eco-friendly partnerships. For instance, Yongeza teamed up with major players like Spiro and Oryx Energies to position battery swap hubs directly at existing fuel stations. Furthermore, the company prioritizes environmental resilience by powering these swap stations with clean grid power and solar energy, entirely bypassing diesel backup generators to ensure zero tailpipe emissions across their footprint.
