COMMUNITY & PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT (PSS) ADVISOR

Job Title

Community & Psychosocial Support (PSS) Advisor

Reports to

Technical Director

Directly Supervises

Community and PSS Officers

Job Purpose

The Community & Psychosocial Support (PSS) Advisor will work in collaboration with the program team and the project community focal person to ensure technical soundness of the Community program.

She/he will provide technical oversight for community & PSS services provided to PLHIV in care in the project and surrounding communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and implementation of an integrated community program for access to lifesaving HIV Testing, Care & Treatment, PMTCT/EID and TB services.

• Coordinate community efforts geared towards targeted HIV case finding and Linkages to ART for children, adolescents and adults.

• Coordinate Community health worker efforts directed at sustaining a robust appointment keeping & Return to Care systems, Client literacy, Contact Tracing and treatment continuity for all TB and PLHIV on treatment.

• Coordinate & work with the Community & PSS officers to coordinate the skilling of Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) in the project communities.

• Coordinate Community health workers implementation of integrated facility and Community PSS interventions (ICSD).

• Coordinate Community Health Worker provision of HIV, TB and other screening services at facility and Community level.

• Participate in routine data analysis, performance review and data use to inform quality improvement initiatives for community services and Psychosocial Support provided to PLHIV & TB patients in Care.

• Spearhead development of master concepts, costed work plans and Activity reports as per stipulated timelines.

• Contribute documentation of best Community & PSS program best learnings, success stories and abstracts in the supported districts/region.

• Perform any other duties as assigned or coordinated by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, social works, Community Development, Nursing or other relevant qualification. Project planning and management and/or Masters in Public Health is an added advantage.

• At least 5 years of recent work in donor funded HIV/TB programs.

• Experience working with local government or military setting.

• Excellent command of data analytics, data use for decision making.

• Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.

• Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
