JOB DESCRIPTION – GENERAL WORKER-DISPATCH
Department: Processing & Dispatch
Reports to: Dispatch/Warehouse Supervisor
Grade: GW
JOB OVERVIEW:
Perform all warehouse/Dispatch duties including picking, Sorting, Counting, Packing, Recordkeeping, loading and offloading of Stock, Housekeeping and maintaining a clean area.
Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading customer orders onto or from delivery trucks
- Moving stock and materials on pallets using a pallet jack or other equipment.
- Preparing and filing inventory records to guarantee accuracy e.g., Loading sheets, Stock Closing balance, traceability/dispatch records, operations monitoring forms etc.
- Participating in daily, weekly, monthly physical inventories and cycle counts
- Stacking, Unstacking, Sorting, Counting and weighing of stock as per customer order specifications.
- Sealing, Marking, labelling and scanning of packed stock /finished products.
- Stacking and Unstacking of stock per SKU on pallets and zoning in the designated storage area
- Ensure proper housekeeping in the cold storage and loading bay as per the SOP.
- Ensuring that any damaged/broken crates are immediately isolated and reported to the Supervisor.
- Reliably retrieve items from the warehouse for processing and dispatch.
- Always ensure FIFO is followed when issuing stock.
- Dispatching stock from the warehouse in line with the SOP (Sales Orders, picking slip, Invoice, Delivery note and Loading sheets)
- Ensure that the truck is properly and safely parked in the right direction / position before loading / offloading.
- Following quality standards and adhering to the procedures and workplace instructions.
- Reporting any suspicious activity that leads to stock / financial loss. s
- Ensuring all the crates loaded/dispatched are sealed and quantities are matching the picking slip and loading sheet.
- And any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor/line manager.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Ordinary level certificate with credit in mathematics and English.
- At least 1 year’s relevant experience as a laborer, preferably in a warehouse/FMCG environment.
- Ability to lift 30Kgs, as many warehouse products are cumbersome and heavy.
- Interpersonal skills are essential, as working as team is vital to maintaining and organized warehouse.
- Record keeping skills necessary to provide accurate information on inventory.
- Ability to solve problem quickly and task prioritization.
- Ability to maintain a high level of physicality for prolonged periods and working primarily standing.
- Customer Service mentality is beneficial to ensure a positive customer experience.
