Job Description

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Wholesale and Carrier Services that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives and market positioning. Setting direction through establishing a clear vision for Carriers and partners to leverage business through negotiation of deals that grow the Roaming and interconnect business, driving revenue growth through innovative roaming and interconnect agreements.

Job Title: Manager – Wholesale Connectivity

Reports to: Senior Manager – Consumer Segments

Main Job Functions:

  • Developing Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with international and national carriers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with interconnect partners, hubs like Bayobab, and service providers.
  • Lead the commercial negotiations: Responsible for commercial aspects of roaming, while fostering and managing relationships with international and national roaming partners, ensuring strong commercial agreements capturing the dynamic customer requirements and explore opportunities for growth and cost efficiency
  • Strategy – Design, develop and implement the long-term strategy for Carrier relations and ensure alignment of all development activities undertaken in the organization. Formulate strategic initiatives that streamline operations and reduce costs, thereby improving the overall efficiency of Wholesale and Carrier Services.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding Regulation: Stay informed about local (UCC) and international telecom regulations (GSMA, ITU) and ensure compliance with legal requirements and engage with regulators to advocate for favorable policies and standards that benefit the organization and its customers.
  • Customer Experience Enhancement: – Service Quality Monitoring: Oversee the quality of roaming and interconnection services, ensuring high standards are met – Manage Dynamic customer requirements.

 

  • Agreement settlements: Oversee the invoicing and settlement processes and across functions.
  • Technical Integration – System Interoperability: Ensure that the systems of all parties adhere to common telecommunications protocols (e.g., SS7, Diameter) to facilitate signaling and data exchange and ensure Interface Compatibility
  • Budget Management: Forecast, plan, develop and review budget for the unit that provides MTN with return on investment. Drive the roaming and interconnect business planning process of the company by providing drivers and assumptions for roaming and interconnect revenues and costs during the budget plan process.
  • Project lead: Manage cross functional teams for any Carrier relations project implementation from governing bodies and ensure compliance and timely completion.                          

Education

  • Degree in in Business, Statistics,Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in marketing related field is an added advantage.

Work Experience            

  • 5 years’ experience in the area of specialization
  • Experience in interconnect, roaming services, mobile network operations, or MVNOs is highly desirable.
  • Telecommunication experience is an added advantage
