Job Description

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Marketing Communications Officer:

  • Contract duration: Initial 12-month national contract at 0.9 FTE (90%), equivalent to 36 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
  • Location: SNV head office in The Hague, Netherlands or SNV country office in Power for Food Partnership operating countries Uganda (Nairobi), Kenya (Eldoret), Rwanda (Kigali) or Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).

Our Power For Food Assignment
The Power for Food Partnership is a €45 million, five-year initiative led by SNV and funded by the IKEA Foundation (IKF) to drive systemic change at the intersection of agri-food and energy systems across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. By integrating regenerative agriculture (RA) with the productive use of renewable energy (PURE), the Partnership aims to improve livelihoods, strengthen local food systems, and enhance sustainability. Through a nexus approach, it seeks to accelerate adoption of RA and PURE, foster policy action, and build stakeholder collaboration, enabling smallholder farmers and SMEs to thrive. Its work is structured around three pathways: Learn (evidence generation and knowledge exchange), Link (collaboration and convening partners), and Leverage (embedding approaches into policy and investment). Ultimately, the Partnership envisions resilient, renewable energy-driven food systems where people have equitable opportunities to prosper while protecting the planet.

The Partnership operates with dedicated teams in each of the four focus countries, coordinated and supported by an overarching partnership team. This central team is composed of five positions: the Partnership Lead, LEARN Advisor, LEVERAGE Advisor, MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) Advisor, and Communications & Influencing Officer. The selected candidate will form part of this core team, working collaboratively to support and strengthen the Partnership across all countries.

Your role
As Marketing Communications Officer for the Power for Food Partnership, you will lead the development and implementation of a compelling communications and influencing strategy centred on the Regenerative Agriculture–Productive Use of Renewable Energy (RA–PURE) nexus. Reporting to the Partnership Lead and working closely with country teams, technical experts, SNV’s global Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs team, and implementing partners, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening programme visibility, driving narrative change, and influencing systems change at scale.

You will develop persuasive, audience-specific content that communicates the value and impact of RA–PURE integration, and shape a powerful storytelling approach that brings together evidence from implementation, field-level insights, and voices from the ground. By ensuring the partnership’s strategic messages are well represented across external platforms, events, and media, you will position the partnership as a thought leader and mobilise actors across sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, strategic, and creative communications professional who is passionate about using communications and influencing to accelerate systemic transformation and deliver lasting impact.

Key responsibilities

Strategic communications and influencing

  • Lead the development and implementation with in-country communications officers of a cross-cutting communications and influencing strategy that strengthens programme visibility and supports systemic transformation around the RA–PURE nexus.
  • Shape and deliver a coherent narrative and strategic messaging framework that positions the P4FP Partnership as a thought leader in the integration of regenerative agriculture and productive use of renewable energy.
  • In collaboration with partners, identify and co-shape influencing material for strategic engagement opportunities (e.g. global fora, media platforms, roundtables).
  • Maintain an annual communications and influencing (C&I) agenda, aligned with partnership milestones and external events.

Content development and storytelling

  • Shape the partnership’s narrative and coordinate messaging across countries, ensuring content is audience-centric, evidence-based, and aligned both with SNV’s global messaging and the partnership’s influencing goals.
  • Translate field-level insights, learnings and evidence from implementation, and community voices into high-quality, multi-media content—including articles, blogs, impact briefs, visual storytelling, event communications, and social media campaigns—conveying complex technical topics in accessible and compelling ways.

Stakeholder engagement and movement-building

  • Together with the LINK Advisor lead strategic communications for movement-building by shaping shared narratives, convening diverse stakeholders, and driving advocacy, learning, and visibility to accelerate uptake of the RA–PURE nexus.
  • Together with the LEVERAGE Advisor, identify strategic channels, platforms, and events (e.g. media, workshops, learning spaces, webinars) to leverage P4FP by sharing insights and evidence, enhance visibility, and position the partnership effectively.
  • Strengthen connections between country programmes and global efforts, surfacing local insights and ensuring strong representation of the partnership’s messages across external events, panels, publications, and collaborations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, knowledge platforms, and sector influencers to amplify the partnership’s reach, visibility, and impact.

Capacity strengthening and coordination

  • Provide guidance, tools, and templates to in-country communications officers to support decentralised content creation while ensuring brand and message consistency.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across country teams to improve the quality, coherence, and alignment of communications and influencing outputs.
  • Together with LEARN and MEL leads, capture and share results, lessons, and good practices to strengthen internal learning and support adaptive management.

Strategic alignment and internal coordination

  • Liaise and collaborate closely with SNV’s Global Marketing, Communications and Pubic Affairs team to ensure strategic alignment, coherence and maximum reach and visibility for P4FP.
  • Strengthen internal communications and knowledge exchange within the Strategic Partnership team, ensuring lessons, stories, and key messages circulate effectively across the team.
