Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Purpose

To perform laboratory tests that aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare samples and conduct laboratory tests according to standard operating procedures in the areas of serology, hematology, immunology, and parasitology.
Record, report, and maintain laboratory tests and results accurately.
Organize medical laboratory screenings and conduct health education within Watoto medical services.
Maintain laboratory supplies and work closely with fellow laboratory personnel and Procurement to ensure the laboratory is well stocked.
Comply with regulatory guidelines and standard operating procedures and participate in the continual development of laboratory SOPs.
Perform quality assurance and quality control procedures, including proficiency testing and internal quality control as scheduled.
Adhere to laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
Maintain proper laboratory equipment operation to ensure optimum functionality.
Conduct continuous medical education sessions for medical personnel to support continual development.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Diploma in Medical Laboratory from a recognized institution.
Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
At least two years of working experience in a laboratory setting.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with children of all ages.
Passionate about community healthcare with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Knowledge or training in quality management systems such as ISO 15189 is an added advantage.
A committed, consistent, and discipled Christian who demonstrates spiritual maturity and active engagement in discipleship, aligned with Watoto values.
