About the Employer
Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) is an autonomous government entity established under the Uganda Heart Institute Act, Cap 258. It is responsible for undertaking and coordinating the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Uganda.
2. Medical Officer – Adult Cardiology
Salary Scale: UHI 4 MED-1
Number of Posts: Five (5)
Reports To: Associate Consultant – Adult Cardiology
Job Purpose
To participate in the management of adult cardiovascular patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, clerk, admit and discharge patients.
- Develop patient treatment plans.
- Collect data for research.
- Initiate and carry out investigations.
- Update patient records.
- Guide patients and caregivers on treatment plans.
- Participate in ward rounds and in the specialty area.
- Supervise medical interns and trainees.
Person/Job Specifications
- MB.Ch.B from a recognized University or Institution.
- Master of Science (MSc) in Medicine (Internal Medicine) or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
- Should be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Must possess a valid practicing license.
Additional Information
The Medical Officers who will be appointed shall undergo a fellowship program for specialisation in Cardiology during their time of service in UHI.
