Job Description
Post: Senior Curriculum Officer – 1 Post
Reference: UHPAB/HRM/SCO/001/26
Scale: UHPAB 4
Reports to: Principal Curriculum Officer
Job Purpose
To provide expertise in the development and review of the curriculum for non-graduate Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals and equation of Academic qualifications from non-Ugandan Institutions in Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Disciplines.
Qualifications
- A Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing or Midwifery or any Allied Health field or Medical Education from a recognized University/Institution
- Advanced Tutors Diploma or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education (where applicable)
- Must be registered and possess a valid Practicing License from Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council or Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council
OR (For staff with Advanced/Higher Diploma before 2002):
- Advanced/Higher Diploma in Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health field
- Qualification in Medical Education (Advanced Tutors Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma)
- Valid practicing license from relevant council
Experience
- At least five (5) years’ experience training health professionals at Certificate or Diploma level
- At least three (3) years’ experience in setting, moderating, and marking assessments at Officer level
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in development and review of curriculum policies and procedures
- Support curriculum review for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals
- Liaise with institutions and stakeholders for curriculum updates
- Evaluate foreign qualifications against Uganda standards
- Prepare reports on equivalence of foreign qualifications
- Develop guidelines for evaluation of foreign qualifications
- Maintain updated records of curriculum and qualifications
- Ensure proper documentation of evaluation and policy reports
- Provide technical support to institutions and professionals
- Organize workshops and seminars for capacity building
- Conduct research on global trends in health education
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of curricula
- Support reporting on curriculum outcomes
