Job Description

Post: Senior Research Officer – 1 Post

Reference: UHPAB/HRM/SRO/002/26
Scale: UHPAB 4
Reports to: Principal Research Officer

Job Purpose

To provide technical expertise in implementation of research plans and agendas for UHPAB.

Qualifications
  • Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health field or Medical Education
  • Advanced Tutors Diploma or Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Education (where applicable)
  • Post Graduate qualification in Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation or related field (added advantage)
  • Valid practicing license from relevant council

OR (For staff with Advanced/Higher Diploma before 2002):

  • Advanced/Higher Diploma in relevant field
  • Qualification in Medical Education
  • Postgraduate qualification in research-related field (added advantage)
  • Valid practicing license
Experience
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in health research
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enforce research procedures and dissemination
  • Review and improve assessment reports
  • Assess research proposals
  • Participate in development of assessment tools
  • Analyze feedback reports
  • Support development of policies and guidelines
  • Develop policy briefs and position papers
  • Prepare baseline surveys
  • Supervise and appraise Research Officer

    • Complete Public Service Form 3 (PSF 3) in triplicate
    • Attach one (1) recent coloured passport size photograph on each form
    • Attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae
    • Indicate title of the post on the application form and reference number against the post
    • Select one or two posts which you qualify for

  • Certified Registration Certificates and valid Practicing Licenses for health workers where required by law
  • Evidence of training and practice in specialized areas where applicable
  • Letters of appointment, confirmation and promotion where applicable
  • National and Current Institutional Identity Cards
  • Priority should be given to only the relevant academic documents in the job specifications
  • All applicants will have the opportunity to present additional relevant qualifications
